My Daddy. My Hero.

Recently my darling Daddy drove to San Diego from Arizona and I am SO proud of him that I need to boast a bit! After his heart attack this past year he has completely and utterly changed his life in amazing ways! You see, my dad works so hard that eating on the go was a norm for him.. fast food was easy and therefor he ate it, A LOT. One morning changed everything for him. His heart actually stopped. He had to be shocked back to life, and then stinted to open his arteries back up. I get misty eyed even typing that. I almost lost my dad.

On August 13, 2013 we drove to Arizona faster than you could say "I'm already there".. and I greeted my daddy with all the love I knew I had in my whole being. We arrived before he even was moved out of recovery. Once he had his own room, and things had settled a bit, and we had seen how severe the blockages were.. I knew I had a job to do. I set up my laptop by his hospital bedside not even 24 hours after his heart had stopped beating and played for him the documentary "Forks over Knives". (It's on Netflix or www.forksoverknives.com)

"The film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods."

An hour and a half after the film, we requested a vegan diet for him in the hospital, not because we had to cut out meat, but because the regular hospital food they bring you is ANYTHING but health full.

Dad has not looked back. 9 months later he is still eating a plant based diet, has received outstanding care from a holistic heart doctor that he sought out himself since every other Heart Dr wanted to tell him he'd be on meds the rest of his life. No way, he said! Has started walking an hour a day, took up Thai Chi, goes to classes to learn about caring for your body with what mother earth provides and wait for it... go ahead and read this next sentence twice.. He has lost 27 pounds safely and is at his high school weight again, COMPLETELY HEALTHY and RADIANT!

I am beyond proud of this man, he is a roll model for every heart patient in this country. Heart disease IS reversible!! If he can do this, anybody can! It takes dedication and determination, and Daddy, you have blown me away with your new reclaimed life! Thank you for choosing to stay here on earth.

A few photos from his recent visit.
